Conservatism vs. Liberalism: The Key Difference

I think the key difference between conservatives and liberals is a belief in God. Most liberals are secularist and this will shape how they view government. Ann Coulter had it right in her book Godless. When your Godless liberalism becomes your god and the government is almighty.

Our founders got it right. We are endowed with certain unalienable rights by our Creator. This means no governmnt or king could take away those God given rights. The government was set up as a secondary appendage to protect those God given rights. If you don't believe in God then you believe the state grants you those rights and this opposses the very foundation of our country.

I believe the smaller the government the more power to the individual. The bigger the government then more power goes to the state. If you don't believe in God then you have no rights except what the state allows you to have. The only way this government could control our God given rights is if the government becomes a behemoth. If it gets too big and the federal government is involved with every aspect of our lives, then we will surely surrender our freedoms in the end. The beast(big government) will devour our freedoms to ensure it's survival and our politicians will be agents for the beast.

Ben Franklin:

The Declaration:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, DERIVING THEIR JUST POWERS FROM THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED .

We the people give the government their power to protect our God given rights. Many liberals believe the government grants us our rights so they want the government to do everything.

I will fight for the right for an individual not to believe in God but this country must remain a nation with God as our Sovereign and giver of rights or we will crumble under the weight of an out of control and HUGE government.
