Congress at all time LOW
New Gallup data show confidence in Congress at all time low
Just 14% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.
This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973. The previous low point for Congress was 18% at several points in the period of time 1991 to 1994.

Commentary:
The reason that Congress is at an all time low is first they overeached on Iraq. The democrats didn't get elected to appease the left wing of their party. They were elected because Senator Biden and Congressman Rahm Emmanuel found moderates to run in republican districts. Senator Reid and Speaker Pelosi overeached and the democrats looked not just anti-war but anti-military. If you read the rest of the article you will see the military is at 69%. Reid recently talked in negative terms about Generals Petraeus and Pace and Hillary Clinton was booed at a democratic gathering when she mentioned the military doing a good job.
Second, the illegal immigration and amnesty deal. This has truly shown that members of Congress are not listening to the American people. What do people expect though? It's money that elects our Senators and Congressmen not the voters. The people in Washington know that all they have to do is raise enough money and they will not be challenged in the election unless they face a millionaire or someone with name recognition. The voters are only paid lip service and they will do what the money tells them to do because it's the money that keeps them in power not the vote.
I'm a conservative and I'm all for free speech but congress has to be reigned in and we need to suspend lobbying and go to public financing of campaigns for at least 5 years. This has to be so the men an women in Washington will win elections based on ideas and not based on how much money they raise.

The Fair Tax
Abolish the IRS and institute a fair tax!! The problem is the people in Washington our too addicted to other peoples money and the democrats will use class warfare and complain about the rich getting a break.

The Good and Bad of Global Warming
There are good things and bad things when it comes to the debate on Global Warming.
First the bad:
Al Gore, Sheryl Crow and other alarmist. They make the issue divisive because of their alarmist rhetoric. I think they want the "little people" to live in a tree house and use one sheet of toilet paper whil they live in mansions and drive around in private jets. They actually make a mockery of an important issue.
The good:
I think it's good that attention was brought to the subject I just wish it wasn't in such an alarming divisive way. The truth is it's not as alarming as some make it out to be and it is not a non issue like some claim and that's mostly due to the divisive nature of Gore and companies rhetoric on the subject.
I think America has to lead in this area as other countries began to develop and they began to reach a point where we were 50 or 60 years ago. We have to switch from an industrial based society to a service-entrepreneurial based society. Anyone who promises you those manufacturing jobs back is lying. Run away from them as fast as you can. The truth is, it's best to retrain in a service oriented field or start your own business.
We need to began to give automakers tax breaks if they produce a certain percentage of hybrid cars or electric cars. We can also give breaks to the consumers who buy these cars and gas stations that began to work with newer technologies.
In the meantime we need to build new refineries and drill in Anwar. I think it's crazy how the democrats say we are in Iraq for oil but it's more important for them to protect the Caribou then it is to become less dependent on foreign oil and save American lives. Just more hypocrisy from the left.

Conservatism vs. Liberalism: The Key Difference
I think the key difference between conservatives and liberals is a belief in God. Most liberals are secularist and this will shape how they view government. Ann Coulter had it right in her book Godless. When your Godless liberalism becomes your god and the government is almighty.
Our founders got it right. We are endowed with certain unalienable rights by our Creator. This means no governmnt or king could take away those God given rights. The government was set up as a secondary appendage to protect those God given rights. If you don't believe in God then you believe the state grants you those rights and this opposses the very foundation of our country.
I believe the smaller the government the more power to the individual. The bigger the government then more power goes to the state. If you don't believe in God then you have no rights except what the state allows you to have. The only way this government could control our God given rights is if the government becomes a behemoth. If it gets too big and the federal government is involved with every aspect of our lives, then we will surely surrender our freedoms in the end. The beast(big government) will devour our freedoms to ensure it's survival and our politicians will be agents for the beast.
I will leave you with a few quotes from Samuel Adams:
"We have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His kingdom come."

Health Care Basics
Health Care Basics is a conservative way to provide health care to the uninsured. The democrats are socialist and they want socialized medicine. The plans put forth by Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards would just grow government and cost the tax payers trillions of dollars. There plans are so convoluted that you will need Professor Stephen Hawking to decipher them.
Health Care Basics is the answer. When I was in the Army, we use to go to Triage centers or what some call sick bays. We would go there when we were sick and get checked out and if it was really serious they would send us to the main hospital. Ninety percent of the time they treated you at the triage center. I remember one time I had an allergic reaction to a flu shot. My whole face was swole and I went to the triage center and they gave me a shot of benadryl and I laid there for an hour. They sent me back to the barracks after the swelling went down and they gave me two days off. Health Care Basics would set up triage centers all across America. Prevention is 90% of the problem. Many of the uninsured don't go to the hospital until there extremely sick because they don't have insurance. Health Care Basics would give the uninsured their basic health care needs and here's how.
1. The uninsured would be charged 5 dollars a month and this 5 dollars would cover up to a family of four. They will be charged a dollar for each additional family member. This will be run by private companies and it will create a new industry. These private companies could not dictate what tests or services that could be administered. If 40 million of the uninsured were to pay the 5 dollars a month that would create a 2.4 billion dollar a year industry. Companies could offer incentives to attract their business. A person could come in just to get a quick physical check up or say if someone hits their head very hard, they would come to the triage center and get x-rays. If the Examiner thought it was serious he could send the patient over to the main hospital for an MRI. They would then send the results back to the triage center.
2. A Health Care Basics charity would be set up. The people like Clinton and Obama can hold fundraisers for the charity and this would raise millions of dollars. These funds will help run the triage centers and they would be ran by private management companies.
3. You can use pre-existing buildings to convert into triage centers. There's no need for any new construction. In my city a major medical building just closed down and that could be used as a triage center.
4. Government would only provide oversight to the triage centers and the charity. That's it. There's no need fr the government to do anything else.
This way you provide the uninsured with their basic health care needs and you don't have to tax people to death and you don't have to grow the government. The government is already bogged down with entitlement spending and universal health care would be a HUGE undertaking. I truly believe that the democrats try to appeal to your emotion in order to suspend your reason. Their true motive is to get your money, spend it and then borrow us into oblivion.
